Swift and Sure Case Manager

Specialty Court - Paw Paw, MI - Full Time

Starting Hourly Rate: $25.55 - $34.81 based on experience

PURPOSE:    Under the general supervision of the Specialty Courts Supervisor, the Case Manager is responsible for providing casework services to high-risk probationers enrolled in the Swift and Sure Sanctions Probation Program.  Primarily, the case manager will monitor progress with program requirements while also providing support for treatment and ancillary service needs.

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
  • Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record, vehicle registration, and access to dependable transportation
  • Must pass drug testing and criminal record check
  • Must have knowledge of substance abuse and mental health pathology
  • Requires travel to locations that are not barrier free
  • Ability to walk, stand, and run for extended periods of time
  • May be required to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Works well with minimum supervision
  • Possesses knowledge of computer operations and have ability to document data as required by grant funding
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team setting          
  • Must be able to perform job responsibilities and provide customer service in a bias-free manner
  • Must be able to read and analyze, appraise, and organize court orders, statutes, procedures, guidelines, policies, and court rules
  • Must be able and willing to stay current with technology changes including the use of new software, hardware, and any related updates

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
  1. Serves as liaison to SSSPP stakeholders, including the court, Michigan Department of Corrections, and law enforcement
  2. Completes all required reporting, data entry, and documentation accurately and timely
  3. Meets regularly with MDOC staff to develop case plans and evaluate probationer progress
  4. Prepares reports, attend and testify at court hearings regarding program violations
  5. Works collaboratively with MDOC, court staff, and police agencies to ensure public safety
  6. Acts as a liaison with ancillary service agencies such as vocational, rehabilitation, education, transportation, substance abuse, mental health and other treatment services
  7. Maintains confidentiality while working with sensitive information
  8. Attends and participates in all meetings associated with SSSPP, including stakeholder gatherings
  9. Attends Statewide and National Conferences
  10. Required to perform employment visits regularly for participants
  11. Participates in home visits with law enforcement
  12. Will perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, sociology, social work, psychology, corrections, or related field preferred.  Experience working in substance abuse, mental health, probation, child welfare, or other court setting preferred. 

SUPERVISION:
Work is performed under the general direction of the Specialty Courts Supervisor. 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The individual in this position is an at-will employee.  Employment is dependent on background check, criminal history and fingerprint check, and drug screen.  Applicant must complete County application form.
