Pay Rate: $17.83 - $24.87 based on experience
                                                                 
PURPOSE: Provide front line customer service related to child support.

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • Requires integrity, willingness to learn, ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Proven interpersonal customer service skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks such as phone calls, walk-in business, forms processing, and other assignments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to handle financial information with discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to learn how to read and comprehend court pleadings.
  • Must possess keyboarding skills and demonstrate accuracy and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and be able to learn and apply other software applications that are specific to Friend of the Court use.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate percentages and decimals.
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR WORKING CONDITIONS:


This position is in-office work with tasks like using a computer and sometimes lifting up to 20 pounds.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Listen to customers, determine their needs, and provide appropriate information, forms, and instructions.
  • Receipt and reconcile payments.
  • Collect and reconcile money collected for copies, forms, etc., and prepare transmittal forms.
  • Generate form letters, notices, and fulfill requests for payment records.
  • Review reports and notify co-workers of next steps needed.
  • Refer customers to other staff in the office and other courts and/or agencies when necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED is required. Court, banking, or accounting work is preferred.
SUPERVISION: Work is under the direction of the Account Specialist III and supervised by the Deputy Friend of the Court.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to work with people who are experiencing financially and emotionally stressful situations. Must be able to maintain neutrality and objectivity when working with clients. Must be able to perform job responsibilities and provide customer service in a bias-free manner. Must be willing and able to attend ongoing training both in the workplace and at out-of-office locations.


Employment is dependent on background check, criminal history and fingerprint check, and drug screen. Applicants must complete a County application form.
