PURPOSE Provide administrative support for the establishment, review and modification, and enforcement of child support processes in the Friend of the Court Office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Primarily office-based with light physical effort, with a rotating schedule between remote office and in-office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Open and maintain Friend of the Court files, review alerts, and generate documents.
• Review and evaluate court documents for required actions.
• Copy, mail, and distribute documents.
• Open, sort, and distribute incoming mail.
• Research addresses, sources of income, and employment information.
• Process legal documents including forms generation, obtaining signatures, and mailing copies.
• Communicate with parents, attorneys, the Michigan Office of Child Support, Department of Health and Human Services, other courts, and law enforcement offices.
• Varied clerical responsibilities such as verification of paternity, coverage for the front desk, and special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED is required. Prefer previous work experience in legal, human services, or related field. Experience serving the public is required and experience in a family court or legal setting is preferred.

SUPERVISION
Work is performed under the general direction of the Lead Customer Service Specialist and supervised by the Deputy Friend of the Court.

• Able to work effectively with clients facing financial and emotional stress while maintaining neutrality and objectivity.
• Committed to providing unbiased customer service.
• Must comply with the Michigan Model Code of Conduct for Trial Court Employees.
• Willing to participate in ongoing training, both on-site and off-site.
• Employment is contingent on background check, criminal history, fingerprint check, and drug screen.
• Applicants must complete a County application form.
