Rate of Pay: $17.31 - $24.15 based on experience

JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Buildings and Grounds, performs maintenance and custodial duties to preserve county buildings and to provide a safe and healthy environment for employees and clients.

ABILITIES, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to operate and maintain custodial equipment
  • Understands various applicable safety protocols including blood-borne pathogens, MSDS, etc.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Clean and maintain lavatories, windows, walls, woodwork doors, furniture, floors, etc.
  • Gather and dispose of refuge, including parking lots
  • Maintain sidewalks. i.e. snow and ice removal
  • Open/close buildings
  • Meet/escort vendors
  • Prepare, maintain, and operate custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, shampooers, mops etc.
  • Track supply usage and maintain adequate inventory
  • Move records, small furniture, and equipment as required
  • Assemble small furniture
  • Empties recycle bags
  • Hang pictures
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must have valid driver’s license


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Employment is dependent on background check, criminal history, and drug screen.  Applicant must complete County application form.

Reports To:                  This position reports to the Director of Buildings & Grounds or his/her designee

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position reports to various facilities within Van Buren County. Ability to life/carry up to and excess of 50 lbs. Ability to climb ladders. Crawl in small spaces, crouch, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to work outdoors and under somewhat adverse conditions
