JOB SUMMARY: This position is assigned to the Sheriff’s Administration main lobby office and reports directly to the Jail Administrator. Greets public and other agencies to the Sheriff’s Office and assists the jail with a variety of tasks including public fingerprinting, attorney visits and other general administrative needs.

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).
Possession of a valid Michigan Driver’s License.

WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This job operates in a professional office environment where a great deal of confidentiality is required. The office is located within a secure area of the Sheriff's Office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to express oneself and exchange information both verbally and in writing. The employee is frequently required to move about the office environment; operate a computer for extended periods of time, operate various other office machinery; and move or transport files or other items weighing up to 20 lbs. to meetings and other office spaces. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. The ability to open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary is required.

- One (1) year of secretarial and / or clerical experience in a law enforcement office setting.
- Ability to competently perform all the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Greet and directs incoming lobby traffic; provides information to the public, answers inquiries and directs to proper source. Assists visitors with kiosk and advises the public on video visitation setup and scheduling. Acts as liaison between Securus and inmates / lobby visitors for equipment and account setup issues.
- Performs ink and Livescan fingerprints for the public as well as per court order, administers PBT testing and provides documentation of results for individuals required per court ordered probation, and provides released individuals with proof of incarceration as requested.
- Accepts bond money, housing debt, booking and other fees when paid in the lobby and secures in depository to be reconciled by Administrative Office Specialist. Receives and sorts inmate mail, processes unapproved mail appropriately. Tracks bonded inmates in AS400 for sentencing to bill individuals for housing debt.
- Receives medicine / medical supplies for incarcerated individuals and provides to the jail nurse. Documents medical charges to inmate accounts per jail nurse reporting.
- Process property releases of incarcerated individuals to their designee.
- Installs car seats; performs car seat inspections as requested by the public.
